CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Noman group has put huge emphasis on its corporate social responsibilities. The social welfare activity of the group is mainly concentrated in health, safety, education and infrastructure.

Since 2003, Noman Group has invested over 2 million euros through “Ismail Anjuman Ara Trust” in social welfare. It has so far established orphanages, schools, & health care service as part of its corporate commitment to render social welfare activities. It has also contributed to the surrounding areas of the factories by building bridges, roads and few other infrastructures. Distribution of winter clothes and relief work during natural disasters are also notable philanthropic approaches that NG extends consistently.
We also encourage our corporate clients to extend their generosity to ensure the well-being of under-privileged women and children. Please click here if you wish to donate to Ismail Anjuman Ara Trust.

    A History of community giving

    csr_main_01

Today, we’re proud to say we’ve reached a new company milestone: Our giving now equals more than 10 tons of clothes every month to the communities we serve. With the clothing needs taken care of, the community members can use their disposable income in education, health care and nutritious meals. We’re committed to increasing this even further.

All along, community giving has been a win-win situation: When we help build strong communities, the guests and team members who live there help us build a strong business.

    Donating Blood, Saving Lives

    csr_main_02

Copious units of blood are needed every day in Dhaka City. Blood centers often run short of type O- blood, and shortages of all types of blood occur during the summer and winter holidays.

Noman Group teamed up with Quantum Foundation to host their annual summer blood drive on July 8 at the Noman Group Headquarters. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Abdullah Talha, Director of Noman Group.

The 2013 Blood Drive was a definitive success. It registered 25 donors with some even managing to give a double donation of blood cells! A separate team of volunteers were on site giving out drinks, snacks and t-shirts all who donated. The team was thrilled with the turnout, and looks forward to next blood drive that’s slated to take place in December.

    Raising HIV Awareness among workers

    csr_main_03

The first case of HIV was reported in Bangladesh in 1989. During that time a total of 2533 case of HIV/AIDS were been detected. Although the overall HIV prevalence in Bangladesh is below 1%, the risk factors for infection (i.e. Syringe/Needle sharing and unprotected sex) still exist.

Keeping in mind the challenge of preventing HIV/AIDS among the high population density countries, and the rapid increase of HIV prevalence in Asia, Noman Group has taken up awareness programs aimed towards its massive workforce.

Noman Group is currently in talks with JCI Bangladesh for arranging a number of such programs in 2014.

Noman Group signed an agreement with Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited on mobile banking services. Under the agreement, 50,000 employees and workers of 33 industries of Noman Group were able to get monthly salary through their DBBL mobile banking accounts.

For this initiative, Noman Group was awarded “Best Example” award by H&M, one of its main clients.

    Commitment to providing education

    csr_main_05

Noman Group has a long-standing commitment to providing education to the underprivileged children in the community. Through our philanthropic initiatives, Noman Group creates learning opportunities and promotes academic achievements for students.

One great example is our continued support for Chunati High School, a non-governmental high school in Lohagara.

Any school is as good as its teachers, and at Chunati High School we have endeavored to create a supportive environment for the teachers by building several teachers’ rooms.

We’ve also created funds to ensure nutritious breakfast for the students, free of cost. We plan on funding their sports facilities by the end of this 2013.
